SEQUOIA PARK FITNESS WALK
(2.3 miles, excluding the Sequoia Park portion, approximately 1-1/2
hours)
Beginning at Russell and W Streets, head north toward Chester
Street. Turn right on Chester, then left on Harrison. Cross
Harris Street and continue on Harrison to Buhne and turn left.
Turn left again on S Street and proceed to Hodgson Street, crossing
back across Harris at the light, and turn right on Hodgson. On
Hodgson you will pass one entrance to the Sequoia Creek Trail. At
O Street turn left and follow as it curves down the hill to the second
entrance to the Sequoia Creek Trail. Enter the Sequoia Creek
Trail and go down the hill and across the boardwalk, then through the
meadow, then pass to the left of the young children's playground and
the duck pond. Behind the duck pond, take the right fork trail
and follow it up the hill, past the fern grotto, and through the group
picnic area. From there, proceed back to Russell and W Streets.
OR you may choose to take your walk in reverse.
In this case, start again at Russell and W Streets and walk to the
group picnic area of the park. The trail starts behind the cement
building in the group picnic area. Follow the trail down the
hill, past the fern grotto, and past the duck pond. Follow the
trail to the right of the children's playground and through the
meadow. At the point where the trail goes to the boardwalk on the
left or goes up to the right, choose the boardwalk and follow this
trail to O Street. Turn right on O Street and follow it as it
jobs past Bryant Avenue up to Hodgson. Turn right on Hodgson and
then left on S Street. Follow S Street to Buhne, crossing Harris
Street at the light. Turn right on Buhne and then right again on
Harrison. Follow Harrison to Chester and turn right. At W
Street turn left and follow it to Russell.
If you wish to add another mile to your walk, circle the area enclosed
by W, Chester, Dolbeer, and Hemlock (Washington School, Armory,
Reservoir, and goats).
